City's social activist to represent India at International Arya Conference

Swaraj Grover, 68, president of the city-based non-governmental organisation (NGO) Jan Kalyan Sangathan will represent India as a special guest in the International Arya Conference at Singapore and Bangkok.

The International Arya conference of Singapore will be held on November 1 and 2 where Grover, a retired principal, will throw light on Vedic 'sanskars' and their relevance in the modern age.

The International Arya Conference of Bangkok will be held on November 8 and 9 where she will deliver a lecture on 'Problems of women and their solution' and 'women empowerment'.

Representatives from about 32 countries will participate in the conference. "I feel obliged that I have been called for this conference," said Swaraj, who has been working as a social activist since 1968.

"The conference is an annual affair and the objective of the conference has been to promote peace in the world by imparting Vedic knowledge and teachings of Swami Dayanand Saraswati, who founded the Arya Samaj with a mission to do good to the whole world, that is for promoting physical, spiritual and social welfare of everyone," she said.

As a social worker, Swaraj claims to have reunited more than 2,800 estranged couples at the national and international level, rehabilitated several widows and divorced women, conducted marriages without dowry, stopped child marriages, solved domestic violence cases and worked on issues like female foeticide.

Swaraj has participated in international seminars held in china, Europe (Holland), Mauritius, Suriname, Guyana and Washington, Nepal, London (UK), Melbourne (Australia) and has been time and again honoured for her achievements and social activities.
