Commotion at Daresi over building's construction

A high drama was witnessed at Soodan Mohalla near Daresi when area residents accused the owner of a building in the neighbourhood of renovating the building in violation of building byelaws.

They also claimed that the matter was in court, but the owner had gone ahead with continuing the building's renovation. Area councillor Sushma Mehta was also involved in the fracas. Anil Sood, the building's owner, claimed that he had permission

for renovating the building. But his neighbour, Yashpal Malhora, alleged that the plinth of the building was taking more than the permitted space.

Malhotra claimed that he had filed a case in court and as the matter was sub-judice, the MC did not have a say.

MC building inspector Pradeep, who goes by his first name, later intervened. Following this, the constriction at the building restarted.

Earlier on Friday, similar allegations were levelled between Malhotra and Sood. Area residents had at that time gathered and called the building inspector of MC and also informed the police, following which construction was stopped. An official of the MC's building branch, who did not wish to be named said that as the matter was in court, they could not do anything.
