After chief minister Parkash Singh Badal intervened into the matter, while assuring the woman that justice would be done with her, police officials swung into action against the accused cops — identified as assistant sub-inspector (ASI) Jasbir Singh, reader of assistant commissioner of police (ACP), headquarters) Harkanwal Kaur; and Ravinder Singh, head constable at the PC branch in the office of Amritsar police commissioner Jatinder Singh Aulakh.

The cops had allegedly demanded a bribe of `1 lakh from the woman for settling the dispute. The aggrieved woman, who met Amritsar police commissioner Jatinder Singh Aulakh in this regard and produced call recordings of her conversation with the cops.

While the woman had approached the local police, action was not taken till the matter was brought to the notice of Badal at Jandiala on Wednesday.

Responding to a query, the chief minister said justice would surely be done and suitable action would be taken against the accused cops.
