Leaders of various farmer organisations on Sunday paid tributes to Bahadur Singh during his ‘bhog’ and ‘antim ardas’ ceremony at his native village Bundala in Amritsar district.
Bahadur Singh was allegedly killed in the police lathicharge on activists of the Kissan Sangharsh Committee (KCS-Pannu)) on February 21. The activists were on dharna outside the Punjab State Power Corporation Ltd (PSPCL) office when the lathicharge took place.
They were demanding reduction in electricity charges.
It was announced at the meeting that a joint dharna by various farmers groups will be held outside the office of the Amritsar deputy commissioner here from March 24 to March 26. They will demand reduction in domestic and commercial electricity charges and giving new tubewell connections to small and marginal farmers free of cost.
