Govt to set up antyodaya mission: CM Manohar Lal Khattar

Haryana chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Saturday said that a separate wing will be set up in the chief minister's office to monitor the welfare schemes of the state government and ensure that the benefits reach the poor and deprived people of the state.

Khattar made the announcement during his address at a function organised by the SC/ST Confederation of India at Rishikul Vidyapeeth in Sonepat on Saturday.

The special wing - dubbed the Antyodaya Mission - will specifically monitor schemes targeted at the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes.

CM also said that the government was committed to the welfare of all sections of society and was launching several schemes for inclusive development of the state.

He added that the government will fight a legal battle for introduce reservations in promotion to government employees from the weaker sections.

Over demands of upgrading Sonepat municipal committee to a corporation, he said, "The matter is under consideration and we are hopeful that this demand will be approved."

Khattar gave a terse reply to the party's Karnal MP Ashwani Chopra's remarks that the Khattar was working like the former Prime Minsiter Manmohan Singh and did not have tight grip over the bureaucracy, the CM skirted the issue, "The state government is being run by the chief minister, ministers and MLAs, and the MPs should cooperate with the Centre for the development the country."

Without mentioning the names, Khattar also said that the state government has sent a proposal to the Centre to develop five cities of the state as smart cities.
