Heat wave sweeps region; Bhiwani sizzles at 45.2°C

Blistering heat wave swept across north India as mercury touched 45.2 ° Celsius in Haryana's Bhiwani. While Hisar sizzled at 44.7 ° C, Amritsar in Punjab recorded the highest temperature of 43.6 ° Celsius, followed by Ludhiana 44.5 and Patiala 43.4 ° C.

The Chandigarh Meteorological Centre said there was a possibility of a thunderstorm accompanied with squall with wind speed exceeding 45 kmph at isolated places in Haryana and Punjab on Sunday and Monday.
Chandigarh recorded a maximum temperature of 43.4 ° C, five notches higher as compared to the normal day temperature. The minimum temperature was 25.3 ° C. There was a dust storm in the evening followed by thunderstorm and light showers.
