Hisar couple that attempted suicide get married in hospital after parents’ consent
Gurmukh Singh and Ruby had consumed some poisonous substance on July 25 to end their lives.
A 20-year-old man and 19-year-old woman, who had attempted suicide three days ago after their parents opposed their relationship, tied the nuptial knot on Saturday in a private hospital they are undergoing treatment, with the blessings of their parents.
Parents of the Gurmukh Singh and Ruby, who had consumed some poisonous substance on July 25 to end their lives, finally accepted their relationship on Saturday and performed the wedding rituals at the hospital.
On July 25, the couple had met at a cafe in Hisar city following opposition of their parents to their relationship. They made a suicide pact and consumed some poisonous substance. The cafe owner informed the matter to the police, who rushed the couple to a hospital for treatment.
On Saturday, the family members of the duo met at the hospital, where they agreed for their marriage.
The couple is out of danger, doctors told mediapersons.
While talking to HT, the newlywed Gurmukh said that he is happy that his dream finally came true.
Gurmukh Singh, who runs a roadside dhaba near his village Peeranwali, told mediapersons that he was attracted to Ruby two years ago, when he first saw her outside a Hisar college.
“We both shared our mobile numbers and after a few meetings and we fell in love. When we took up the matter with our family members, they opposed our relationship,” he added.
Their family members, however, refused to comment on the matter.
