Mansa district and sessions judge Jagdish Singh Khushdil has awarded life imprisonment to Gautam Oberoi, 30, a resident of Mansa for murdering his father by stabbing him with a pair of scissors in August 2012.
The convict had stabbed his father, Amarjit Oberoi (55), with a pair of scissors eight times on August 19, 2012, after an argument over his drinking habit.
Amarjit was taken to the civil hospital and then transferred to a private hospital. However, the family thought it fit to bring the victim home to avoid the cost of treatment, something that is said to have contributed to his death.
ASI Jagdev Singh was drafted in as the eyewitness in the case. A case under Section 302 (murder) of Indian Penal Code was registered against the accused at the Mansa city-I police station the same day.
