The project, at Sikhism’s central shrine, is projected to cost Rs 11 crore, said Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) chief secretary Harcharan Singh, adding, “It will give a fillip to the look of the entire premises and be a great attraction for the pilgrims. We hope for it to be complete in a month.”

The new technology will make it possible to change the colours and effects of the lights with the click of a button, said Harcharan. “These lights will reflect the grandeur of the gold-plated, dome-shaped sanctum sanctorum onto the sarovar (pond) at night, and that of the entire complex on to the marble flooring.”
