“Out of 1,600 candidates who appeared for the recruitment, the number of candidates failing the dope test was not even 50. Those who failed the test were not addictive to banned drugs and we hope that they will be cleared in further scrutiny. The number of addicts is less than 0.1 per cent as compared to what the politicians have been claiming all this while.”

Harsimrat, who was in Mansa for sangat darshan programme, blamed the Congress and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) for defaming the state as a ‘drug haven’ which has severely hampered the business and infrastructure development of Punjab. “The opposition has created such an anti-Punjab image that foreign investors and businessmen grew apprehensive about it.”

Responding to allegations of Navjot Singh Sidhu, that he was sidelined to accommodate Harsimrat in the union cabinet, she said, “Sidhu never bothered about the state as he was very much occupied with his television show.”

Harsimrat Kaur Badal conducted sangat darshan in Budhlada assembly constituency and laid the foundation stone of projects worth Rs 65 crore.

In an embarrassing situation during the sangat darshan, a municipal councillor was caught unaware when Harsimrat asked him about details of the project for which grants were sought on Saturday. She looked visibly upset as some of the incomplete projects were relayed as finished by the officials. She pulled up the council president of Budhlada and deputy commissioner for giving different versions when she asked them for the goof up.

Moreover, probe is on in the distribution of sub-standard items during Harsimrat’s sangat darshan programme in Mansa.
