Following PGIMER administration’s failure to provide slippers in operating theatres (OT) to staff members, the doctors have now decided to donate the same to the institute.

The Faculty Association on Tuesday announced that since the administration is not able to provide even basic amenities like ‘chappals’ and OT dresses, the association will donate 200 pairs of slippers to the PGIMER administration to be used by faculty and other staffers in the operation theatres.

HT has highlighted in the past that how it is not just white coats that doctors at the PGIMER need to carry with them to an operating theatre, they also need to have their own pairs of slippers. Unlike most hospitals, the institute doesn’t provide slippers to surgeons and anaesthesiologists working in the operating theatres.

Earlier, the association had also given a representation in this regard to the PGIMER director and he had agreed to solve the linen issue.

Meanwhile, the doctors’ protest continued on Tuesday. The association said the institute is not paying heed to its demands for the last one week.

The protest was joined by around 125 faculty members. The gathering reiterated their demand of taking action against the non-performing employees and the officers at the helm of the engineering department, to provide timelines in writing for solution of all the issues that have been raised as well as to fix up the responsibilities.
