The India Meteorological Department has also said that the present spell of wet and partly cloudy weather might actually be of help to the wheat crop.

"Partly cloudy weather is suitable for wheat," said Dr Raj Kumar, assistant meteorologist with the India Meteorological Department, Bathinda.
"The temperature that has prevailed over the last few days is suitable for wheat. If it gets below 3°C, the growth of the crop can be hit. In the first week of this month, temperature went down to 0.6°C."
On Saturday's weather, Kumar said, "The minimum recorded temperature on Saturday was 9.6°C and 16.2°C. There was no fog in the morning today and on Saturday, there will be a fall in temperature. Clear and dry weather is expected over the coming few days.
