It is a 360 degree model that ensures reduction in mortality and costs and also improves outcomes for patients. Having specialised tracheostomy care nurses dedicatedly available for patient care 24x7, has taken patient safety to the next level.”

Col Neera (retd), chief of nursing staff (CNS), Apollo, said: “Ensuring patient safety is one of the most challenging tasks for healthcare providers across the world. Proving safe medical care in a safe environment is of paramount importance in today's scenario.”

The tracheostomy care nurse program was also one such initiative that was taken by SPS Apollo and to win a prestigious national FICCI award and be the only hospital in the country as winner of the patient safety category is a strong testimony to SPS Apollo's on-going journey towards patient safety, Jugdiep said.

Now, the hospital was applying such programme to other courses of medical such as line care nursing, lactation nurse and infusion nurse so that better facilities could be provided to patients, Jugdiep added.
