In events related with National Girl Child Day that was on January 24, the students of The Millennium School took gender-sensitisation to common people on the streets here on Wednesday.
In events related with National Girl Child Day that was on January 24, the students of The Millennium School took gender-sensitisation to common people on the streets here on Wednesday.
In the effort to raise the consciousness of society towards girl child, the children used at wall on the Mall Road to make graffiti on the subject and presented a street play, "Aakhri Ladki", at Shaheed Bhagat Singh Chowk and Sadbhavana Chowk.
The play highlighted society's bias against girls and the crucial responsibility of everyone to address the issue. The children also walked into various public parks got the locals to participate a candlelight march and writing slogans on the issue.
"Our country has a very poor sex ratio, so our mission is to sensitise our students about the problem and use them as ambassadors to influence others," said Anju Dhawan, principal of The Millennium School. "The idea is to cure society of boy fixation. Whenever a baby, boy or girl, comes into this world, it calls for celebration."
