Since DPI (schools) Rubinderjit Singh Brar had to go out of station for an official meeting, he said he had already instructed the district education officer (DEO) to issue a showcause notice to the school. Deputy DEO-1 Rajinder Kaur said that the department had already issued directions to St Kabir Public School asking for an explanation for violation of norms. “The school has been asked to give an explanation for violation of the DPI orders and a letter has already been dispatched to the school,” said Kaur.

Meanwhile, a parent, whose form was not accepted by the school after December 10, visited the school again on Thursday at 10am but the security guard at the gate said no forms were being accepted as December 10 was the last date. The parent again visited the school at 11am and this time his form was accepted. “My child’s form was finally accepted and I am relieved,” he said requesting anonymity.

However, administrator of St Kabir Public School Gurpreet Bakshi said: “We are still accepting forms.” On being questioned that some parents were complaining that their forms had not been accepted after December 10, he said: “There seems have been some confusion.”

Panel to look into violations

DPI (schools) Rubinderjit Singh Brar said a committee would be formed to look into the violations by schools during the admission process. “We have received complaints against some other schools too. We have decided to form a committee to scrutinise the admission process of all schools,” Brar told HT.
