Sodhi also instructed the Punjab State Power Corporation Ltd (PSPCL) officials to provide 24 hour electricity at these schools besides asking the Punjab Roadways authorities to make a bus stoppage for the convenience of the students outside the school campus.
The Punjab government will set up special sports wings in meritorious schools, said sports and youth affairs minister Rana Gurmit Singh Sodhi on Monday. He said this during his visit to Meritorious School, Hakumat Singh Wala village in Ferozepur.
In response to a request of the local meritorious school principal, he assured to take up the matter with the authorities concerned to fill the vacant seats of academic and non-academic staff in the school besides completion of pending infrastructure.

‘Coaches to get advance training abroad’
Punjab coaches will get advance training in foreign countries, Sodhi said in Moga.
“We will change the sports policy and will provide best facilities to the players so that they can shine on international level. We will also provide advance sports infrastructure to players so that we will able to put Punjab on top in sports and revive its lost glory,” Sodhi said.
He blamed the previous Shiromani Akali Dal government for not making enough efforts for the state sportspersons He said the government will set up new skill development centres for the youth to help them become self-employed.
