Actor Arjun Chakraborty played a young and soft-spoken singer, Gora, who used to experiment with Rabindra Sangeet, in the television show Gaaner Oparey. Naturally, it's a shade difficult now to imagine the actor playing an auto driver in a film. However, Arjun says that as an actor, he is constantly looking for variety. "I don't want to play a clean-shaven, sophisticated boy in every film. I want to experiment with new roles. I am sure the audiences will be able to relate to my character, that of an auto driver, if I have managed to play it convincingly," says Arjun, the youngest son of Sabyasachi Chakrabarty.
Arjun will be seen playing an auto driver in Aritra Mukherjee's debut film Auto No 9696, which releases this week. Ask him when was the last time he travelled in an auto, and he says, "It was in 2011 when I was in college. That was the last time I took an auto. Now, I have a car and prefer travelling in that."

Given that Arjun comes from a family of actors, (his mother is actor Mithu Chakrabarty and elder brother Gaurav), it's natural that there are film related discussions at the dinner table. However, the actor says that his parents never interfere in his professional decisions. "They consider both my brother and me mature enough to take decisions. Yes, I have taken a few wrong decisions too and they are always there to guide me. They go to the premiere of our films and criticise our films too," says the actor of films such as Bapi Bari Jaa, Chirodini Tumi Je Amar 2 and Jodi Love Dile Na Prane.
In the meantime, Arjun will soon be seen in Chatterjee's upcoming production, which is being made exclusively for the small screen. "I started my career with Gaaner Oparey, which was directed by Joydeep da (Mukherjee) and produced by Bumba da ( is affectionately known by this name the industry). So, when I asked to be a part Bumba da's upcoming production by the same team, I couldn't have been happier," he signs off.
