Rana Daggubati to star in biopic of wrestler Kodi Rammurthy Naidu
Rana Daggubati is all set to play the titular role in a biopic on legendary southern bodybuilder and wrestler Kodi Rammurthy Naidu.
Rana Daggubati will be remembered as Bhallaladeva for a long time, thanks to his menacing performance as the evil king in SS Rajamouli’s Baahubali franchise. Now, he is all set to soon play the titular role in a biopic on legendary southern bodybuilder and wrestler Kodi Rammurthy Naidu.
Rana said, in a statement, that he became a huge fan of Naidu as he grew up reading about him in textbooks. It would be a dream role for the Baahubali star and a fitting tribute to the legendary wrestler from South India.
This spectacular action drama will be soon made in Hindi and Telugu. To be produced in collaboration with a top production house from the south and a major international studio, a top director is already in talks to helm the project and if all goes well, the shooting of the film is soon to start.
The statement further added that the story has been registered with the writers’ association and the pre-production is currently in progress. In a media interaction early last year, Rana said that he’s been planning to make a film on Naidu for a long time.
With an undefeated record of over 5000 bouts, Naidu was awarded the title of ‘Indian Hercules and ‘Kaliyuga Bhima’ by King George. The young ‘Kaliyuga Bhima’ rose like a phoenix in the early 1900s, when the British rule was firmly established in India.
On the career front, Rana already has a series of big-spectacle films lined up. He is currently shooting for modern-day adaptation of Rajesh Khanna hit Haathi Mere Saathi, in which he plays a mahout.
