In Mani Ratnam’s Chekka Chivantha Vaanam, Arvind Swami, Vijay Sethupathi, Simbu and Arun Vijay play brothers while senior actors Prakash Raj and Jayasudha play their parents.

Filmmaker Mani Ratnam’s upcoming multi-starrer Chekka Chivantha Vaanam (CCV) is unarguably one of the most exciting Tamil projects of this year. Featuring an ensemble cast including Arvind Swami, Vijay Sethupathi, Simbu, Arun Vijay, Aditi Rao Hydari and Jyothika among others, the film has already garnered lot of attention in the trade. However, there’s little information available on the film. However, thanks to the film’s cinematographer Santosh Sivan, audiences are at least being teased with pictures from the sets at regular intervals.

Over the last few weeks, Sivan has been sharing working stills from the sets, much to the delight of the fans. On Sunday, Sivan shared the first glimpse of Simbu and Jyothika, who are rumoured to be playing a pair in the film. While Jyothika is seen being instructed by Ratnam in the picture, in what appears to be a bus, Simbu is captured against the backdrop of Dubai, going by the skyscrapers in the background. The team of CCV is currently filming a brief schedule of the film in Dubai. Sivan also shared a candid picture of Ratnam, seen relaxing in the desert.

According to various sources, the film features the male protagonists Arvind, Vijay, Simbu and Arun as brothers while senior actors Prakash Raj and Jayasudha play their parents. Being bankrolled by Madras Talkies, double Oscar-winning AR Rahman has been roped in compose the music. If everything goes as planned, the film may hit the screens this September.

It is believed that CCV, which will be dubbed and released in Telugu as Nawab, will be a departure from the filmmaker’s usual style of films. Ratnam has pinned high hopes on this project following the debacle of Kaatru Veliyidai, which sank without a trace at the box office last year.
