Transforming into Aami is no easy task, says Manju Warrier
To be directed by Kamal, the film was originally planned to make the film with Vidya Balan. Now, Manju Warrier has replaced her.
Manju Warrier, in her latest Malayalam film Aami, plays well-known and much-loved poet Kamala Das, popularly known as Madhavikutty. With the film having gone on floors on Friday, its first look poster featuring Manju in a bright red silk saree, sporting large spectacles and nose stud was released online, much to the delight of her fans.
While sharing the poster on her Facebook page, Manju wrote that she is transforming into Aami, slowly, in her heart and in her dreams. She says this transformation is no easy task. She said that she can feel the magical scent of Madhavikutty. To be directed by Kamal, the film was originally planned to make the film with Vidya Balan. The Dirty Picture actress abruptly backed out of the project in January. The exact reason for her exit still remains a mystery.
Talking to the media from the sets of the film, Manju said that Madhavikutty as a person is very close to the heart of every Malayali. Every actor in the country would desire to play this role. I consider it my good fortune to have landed an opportunity to play this role.
