Orkut, Facebook and Twitter have been in vogue for a while, but now there is Magicoffootball.com, a social networking site meant for football lovers across the world.
The primary aim of the site is to help underprivileged youngsters turn into professionals, so that they don’t take to vices.
The process is simple: Log on, register and be a part of the magicoffootball.com family.
Royalle Corporation, the creator of the site, provides kits free of cost and conducts free coaching camps supervised by certified coaches of the Asian Football Confederations (AFC).
“Dreaming about a career in professional football was a world full of risks earlier. You needed extremely supportive and focused parents, apart from hard work obviously, to make it big. But now there are a lot of avenues,” said India striker Sunil Chhetri.
The site has already conducted camps in Dublin, Bangkok, Bangalore, Noida, and Goa and plans to conduct more such camps in the future.
‘We need a start’
Chhetri shared national coach Bob Houghton’s views on the possibility of Indians playing in foreign leagues. “Somebody has to be the first one and the number will increase I am sure,” he said.
“Be it Steven (Dias), (NP) Pradeep or myself, somebody has to start,” he added. “I am in constant touch with my agent and it’s not that I am just open to playing in England only,” he said when asked about the possibility of his playing for a foreign club.
His foreign ambition on hold, Chhetri is now focused on the national team’s exposure trip to Barcelona. “Given a chance, I would surely want to meet the Barca stars,” he said.
Excited at the prospect of training at the Barcelona facility, Chhetri, however, was sad that lack of proper training grounds in India forced the team’s camp to Dubai. “Portugal is slightly bigger than UP but they have more than 300 training grounds,” he lamented.
