Hooligans blocked from entering Switzerland
GENEVA: About thirty known football hooligans were blocked from entering Switzerland over the weekend when European 2008 kicked off, the border police said on Monday. A bus with the people was turned away at the border between Switzerland and Germany at Basel, said the police. Those who were banned were known to police as potentially violent people.
Neeskens’ stolen bag returned with chocolates
Neuenegg: A BAG stolen from former Dutch star Johan Neeskens eight years ago on a Swiss camping site was recovered. Neeskens was assistant coach to Frank Rijkaard at Euro 2000, and the theft occurred when the squad was preparing in Switzerland for the tournament. The bag was found with several notepads containing tactical notes, soap, a list of players’ and coaches’ telephone numbers and Toblerone chocolate bars.
