Byomkesh Bakshi, Chanakya to be re-run on Doordarshan
Popular TV shows of yesteryears Chanakya and Byomkesh Bakshi will be aired again on Doordarshan, in a bid to boost up the TRPs, Doordarshan News tweeted on Thursday. TV series Buniyaad will also be re-telecast.

The development comes at a time when Indian cinema is showing newly-grown love for Byomkesh Bakshi - the detective character from Sharadindu Bandyopadhyay's set of novellas that was later adapted in a TV series.
Rituparno Ghosh finished the shooting for his version of Byomkesh Bakshi - a Bengali film, before his death. Sujoy Ghosh plays the protagonist in Rituparno's movie.
On Wednesday, Dibakar Banerjee announced Detective Byomkesh Bakshy - his upcoming directorial venture in collaboration with Yash Raj Films. Sushant Singh Rajput will play the Bengali sleuth in Banerjee's film.
Chanakya was a historical show based on the story of Indian Machiavelli - Chanakya, the author of Chankaya Niti. Based on the play Mudra Rakshasaa, the TV series brought some of the legendary actors like Irrfan Khan, Surendra Pal and Neena Gupta among other veteran actors to the public eye. The show was written and directed by Dr. Chandraprakash Dwivedi. He also played the lead role in the show.
Directed by Ramesh Sippy, Buniyaad was based on partition of India. Veteran actors like Alok Nath, Dalip Tahil and Kanwaljit Singh found their ground on TV with the show. It was written by Manohar Shyam Joshi.
