You will be a mother soon. How does it feel?

I am feeling very fat, but I’m enjoying all the attention I am getting. I manage to get away with so many things because I am pregnant. For example, I can cut queues at airports. I love throwing my weight around (laughs). Hermit is also very excited. Since I was in Goa for the past few months, people didn’t know about my pregnancy. So, when I put the photo up on Instagram, everyone went berserk.

Did you plan the pregnancy?

I guess after marriage, motherhood is the next step. Hermit and I aren’t a typical couple. I think a baby has to come naturally, as a surprise. That feeling is amazing. Apart from the weight that I have put on and my baby bump, life has been normal. I haven’t had nausea, morning sickness or cravings. I still go to the gym, and do yoga and everything else that I used to do earlier. Nowadays, women are encouraged to be extremely fit during their pregnancies. Gone are those days when you could sit and munch on everything possible.

You must be receiving a lot of advice…

All my friends and relatives have been doling out advice, tips, and dos and don’ts. One thing that was endearing, but became annoying after a point was that people thought it was okay to rub my belly, including strangers at restaurants and malls.

Do you plan to deliver your baby in Mumbai?

I plan to deliver my baby in Goa, as my parents live there. Maharashtrians follow a tradition — the first child is born in the maternal grandmother’s house. I will opt for a water birth. Goa has many home birth centres, so it will be apt.
