What made you want to take up the role of a TV show host?
I have never hosted before, so it seemed like an exciting prospect. Also, the concept of this show is very different from the others out there. There won’t be any judges; only Yo Yo Honey Singh will be mentoring the artistes. We don’t call the participants contestants, as we feel they are all artistes in their own right. Of course, the show also marks his (Yo Yo) debut on TV, so I am glad to be part of it.

Television work seems to be keeping you busy. Are films on the backburner?
No, I make the most of whatever opportunities come my way. And I am not one to lie about the work I do. I love what I am doing. I have a film with Rajeev Khandelwal in the pipeline, but I don’t want to talk about stuff so much in advance. I am glad I am being able to add value to projects that are niche.

What do you prefer — reality shows or film roles and dance numbers?
I did both the [reality] shows as I want to be loved. Who doesn’t want the name and money? But it also feels great when people come up to you and tell you what they liked about you. I do what my heart tells me to do. I wanted overall popularity too. People love me for the person that I am, but I also wanted them to love me for my talent.

Does acting on TV interest you?
Not yet. If something exceptionally tempting comes my way, then maybe. But I haven’t got any such offers yet.

Critics didn’t expect your relationship with Kushal Tandon to last this long after the reality show ended. Are you feeling vindicated?
I am glad. This is an example for people who make judgements about everything. I hope people learn from this, and stop jumping to conclusions.

Is marriage in the offing?
Not yet.
