With the World Cup fever hitting the pitch and household TV screens across the country, the highest scorer so far on the home record ratings has been the cliffhanger tied-match between India and England. The game drew a peak rating of 24.09 TVR in six metros, easily becoming the most-watched cricket contest so far.
The match held on February 27, got a rating of 12.63 TVR, easily eclipsing the India-Bangladesh debut contest (7.8 TVR). The only other match that came close was the one between India and Bermuda during the last World Cup in 2007, that fetched 10.96 TVR.
After this match, the next three non-India matches could not manage 1 TVR, partly because they were so one-sided. Overall, the first 14 matches of the World Cup have scored a TVR of 2.56. In 2007, the average rating for the game was 2.3 TVR.
