Salman Khan launched Bigg Boss 12 on Tuesday at a press conference in Goa. The actor, who is returning as the host of the show for the sixth time, was present along with Bharti Singh and her husband Harsh Limbachiya to speak about the show and what audiences can expect from the upcoming season. Here are the 10 interesting things the actor said about his association with Bigg Boss and his relationship with the contestants.

Salman Khan on marrying Bigg Boss

Salman Khan arrived at the event in a boat and performed to the song, ‘Jeene Ke Hain Char Din.’ The first thing the actor spoke about was his marriage, or rather the persistent questions he faces in this regard. Salman said, “They ask me lame questions like ‘when are you getting married?’ I am thinking of getting married to Bigg Boss because he is just a voice.”

Bigg Boss 12’s ‘vichitra jodis’

He then spoke about all the kind of vichitra jodis that are likely to enter Bigg Boss 12. “There are so many kinds of jodis. Naagin-sapera, boy-boy, girl-girl. There is no Aadhaar to enter Bigg Boss; only criteria that the jodi has to be vichitra.”

Salman Khan’s relationship with Bigg Boss

Salman said, “Bigg Boss has been my longest association with a project. It’s one of the biggest properties on television.”

Bigg Boss vs Dus Ka Dum

Speaking about why Bigg Boss worked for him in comparison to Dus Ka Dum, the actor said, “Dus Ka Dum comes just 2 days in a week. Bigg Boss is a weeklong project. The contestants’ drama adds to the overall rating.”

Salman also revealed that he watched every episode twice and said, “So I tend to build a relationship with everyone.”

On Shah Rukh Khan

Salman Khan also spoke about Shah Rukh Khan and sharing screen space with him. The actor said, “I will work with him if we get a good script. He was kind enough to appear in Tubelight. And I will also be seen in Zero.”

Bigg Boss was first offered to SRK

He was also asked who would be his vichitra jodi and the actor responded, “Sanjay Dutt and me. We hosted season 5 together. So, he is the best choice for me. Also taking you back, I will choose Shah Rukh Khan. Not many know that SRK was the original choice of Bigg Boss. But he had a shoulder injury and so it came to me. I thank him for this.”

He was also asked about why there was not much news about the size of his pay check this year. While Salman dodged the question, showrunner Raj Nayak said, “because of demonetisation.”

On Priyanka Chopra

He also took a dig at Priyanka Chopra who backed out of working in Bharat. When asked about chances of Priyanka as one of the contestants and said, “Nahi, woh nahi hai, engaged hai, you all know na?”

On female actors

Speaking of female actors in the industry now, Salman said, “Female actors are doing quite well. I just hope woh hume peeche na chhod de (I hope they don’t leave us behind).”

Bigg Boss 12 will premiere on September 16 and the reality show will air Monday to Friday at 10:30 pm. The Weekend Ka Vaar episodes will air at 9 pm.
