Shah Rukh Khan to return to TV, team up with Simon Cowell
Reports suggest that the British TV producer and the Bollywood actor are set to come together for a live event being organised in Mumbai. The event will also be aired on the small screen.
Shah Rukh Khan and popular British television producer Simon Cowell may soon share stage for an event in Mumbai, and for a TV show on Colors soon.
Shah Rukh Khan has joined hands with Colors for his return to the small screen. He will reportedly host a grand live show based on the hugely popular international series Got Talent.
A source close to Shah Rukh says, "It’ll be a talent show, which will see people from across the world competing. Cowell has wanted to venture into the Indian entertainment market for a while."
The show is likely to be telecast in December.
We’re told that the one-off show will be a ticketed event. However, the organisers are keeping further details under wraps till the official announcement is made.
Confirming the news, Rav Singh, director of RFS Entertainment Ltd, the company organising the event, says, "Simon Cowell and Shah Rukh Khan will be teaming up for a live extravaganza. We are bringing these two global household names together."
We’re also told that owing to his international appeal, SRK was an obvious choice for this show. A source close to SRK confirmed the news, but the actor himself remained unavailable for comment. We were also unable to independently verify the news with Cowell.
Meanwhile, Indian television already has India's Got Talent, the desi spin-off of Cowell's show.
Shah Rukh, one of Bollywood's most iconic stars, is not new to the TV medium.
The 48-year-old started his tryst with showbiz via television with shows like Fauji and Circus, and it was from there that he landed a role in his debut film Deewana 22 years ago.
He returned to the medium to host the third season of the hugely popular game show Kaun Banega Crorepati and later he anchored Kya Aap Paanchvi Pass Se Tez Hain? and Zor Ka Jhatka.
On the Bollywood front, Shah Rukh will be seen in Farah Khan's multi-starrer "Happy New Year", which happens to be tinsel town's big ticket Diwali release this year.
