Russian ambassador to US Anatoly Antonov said it seems local politicians are not fully aware of their statements. Earlier, Republican Senator Lindsey Graham gave an open call for the assassination of Putin on live television.

Republican Senator Rick Scott of Florida in a recent interview which is yet to be aired has said that sending US troops to Ukraine should not be ruled out. Reacting to this comment, which has already been reported in US media, Russian ambassador to the United States Anatoly Antonov said Washington's anti-Russia rhetoric started to pose a risk to international security. He is ready to discuss the issue with any US politician, he said, as reported by Russian media.

"Anti-Russian rhetoric in the US has reached the point of absurdity. There is an impression that local politicians are not fully aware of their statements. The slogans voiced in Washington are becoming more and more irresponsible, provocative, and, most importantly, extremely risky for international security," Anatoly Antonov said.

According to US media, Rick Scott in an interview on Full Court Press with Greta Van Susteren was asked about his idea on sending US troops to Ukraine. "You should always keep all your options open … I don't think you should ever take it off the table,” he said.

"But your hope is that you would never, ever again, ever have to put American men and women at risk. I don't think you should ever take it off the table. But the goal here is to give Ukrainians the resources so they can do this on their own," the senator said.

US President Joe Biden earlier said the US will intervene only if Putin moves into NATO countries. "Well, if he (Russian President Vladimir Putin) did move to NATO countries, we will be involved. The only thing that I am convinced of is if we don't stop (him) now, he'll be emboldened. If we don't move against him now with these significant sanctions, he will be emboldened," Biden said earlier.

Before Rick Scott, Republican senator Lindsey Graham gave an open call for the assassination of Putin on live television which irked Russia. Ambassador Anatoly Antonov termed the assassination call as "unacceptable and outrageous".

Putin on Saturday said any country that imposes a no-fly zone over Ukraine would be considered to have entered into an armed conflict with Moscow.

Senior US officials travelled to Venezuela on Saturday to meet with President Nicolas Maduro's government, seeking to determine whether Caracas is prepared to back away from its close ties to Russia amid its invasion of Ukraine, according to a person familiar with the matter.
