14 hurt in Dubai airport accident
The airport has been closed for eight hours following the accident.
Fourteen passengers on board a Biman Bangladesh Airlines aircraft were injured in an accident at the Dubai International Airport in the early hours on Monday as the aircraft was taking off.
The airport has been closed for eight hours following the accident.
The aircraft, carrying 236 passengers, was quickly evacuated after the incident, the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) said in a statement.
The Biman Airlines Flight 006 was taking off at 6:30 am (1000 IST) en-route to Dhaka when a "small incident" occurred that caused the takeoff to be aborted and the plane halted on the runway, it said.
The runway has been closed for about eight hours to allow the plane be towed away and investigations into the incident be carried out, the statement said adding the airport was expected to resume activities by 0230 pm (1800 IST).
In the meantime, incoming flights were diverted to neighbouring airports.
