A man and several associates broke into the home of a rival family in Manchanabad in central Punjab and opened fire late Saturday as the occupants prepared to break their fast for the holy month of Ramadan, the Geo news channel reported.

The attack appeared to be an act of revenge for the murder two years ago of the man's wife and three of his children in an accommodation dispute with his daughter's in-laws, the police said.
A search was underway for the killers, who fled after the shooting.
