In Mannar, 12 LTTE cadres were killed and their trench line destroyed by troops, who captured the Parappakandal area from the rebels yesterday, the army said.
Separately, security forces gunned down three rebels at Nagarkovil in Jaffna after destroying their bunker on Thursday, the Defence Ministry said.
Troops shot dead another seven guerrillas in clashes in Periyapantrichurichchan, Kallikulam and Munimurippu areas of Mannar on Thursday, the army said.
In another incident, security forces confronted LTTE cadres in the general area of Andankulam in Welioya, killing four rebels, the army said, adding two security personnel also lost their lives in the confrontation.
In another confrontation at Kokkuthuduvai in Welioya, the army killed 12 rebels on Thursday, the Defence Ministry said. Two soldiers also lost their lives in the attack.
