An earthquake measuring 5.5 on the Richter scale struck Myanmar, the US Geological Survey said on Thursday.

The quake hit at 12:31 a.m. ((2331 IST Wednesday) with a depth of 35 km, 425 km northwest of Yangon, Xinhua reported quoting the USGS.

There were no reports of any damage so far.
