"Colombo, mindful that a military defeat of Tigers was not possible, is keen to drag other countries to fight the inhumane war against the Tamils."

"The Sri Lankan agenda of distancing the Tigers from the international community by projecting the LTTE as a threat to the regional or international players will not work," the pro-rebel website Tamilnet quoted Tamilselvan as saying.

At the SAARC summit on April 3 and 4, the Heads of Government of India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Nepal, and The Maldives are to consider a Sri Lankan proposal for a "coordinated SAARC drive against terror in all its forms and manifestations."
