Diana inquest: judge admonishes critics

The judge says anything said, written or published which may influence the jury will be contempt of court.

The judge presiding at the British inquests into the death of Princess Diana and Dodi Fayed on Thursday warned critics of the proceeding that they might be found in contempt.

The warning from Lord Justice Scott Baker has urged that nothing be said, written or published which might influence the jury.

He says those who do so may be found in contempt of court. "Comments made outside this court, often about a limited aspect of the evidence, may tender the maker or publisher liable to contempt of court," Baker said.

"I again urge great care that nothing is said, written or published that may influence the jury."
