Nawaz Sharif has said he will hold a "final" round of talks with ruling PPP Chairman Asif Ali Zardari to fulfil his pledge of reinstating sacked judges and making President Pervez Musharraf accountable for his actions.

Asking ruling PPP Chairman Asif Ali Zardari to fulfil his pledge of reinstating sacked judges, former premier Nawaz Sharif has said he will hold a "final" round of talks with him on ending the deadlock on the issue and making President Pervez Musharraf accountable for his actions.

However, Sharif did not spell out the steps his PML-N party will take in case his forthcoming meeting with Zardari did not produce any results.

Addressing a gathering of PML-N supporters in London last night, Sharif, whose party quit the cabinet in May after the government failed to reinstate about 60 judges sacked by Musharraf during emergency last year, stressed that he wanted the coalition between the two parties to remain intact.

"I will talk to Zardari sahab about this roadmap and I believe this roadmap should be followed because he had made a promise to me. I believe that the final talks should be held now," he said.

"From the bottom of my heart, I want our coalition to remain intact and we should implement this agenda. If this agenda is not implemented, what will happen to Pakistan? If the judiciary and their independence are not restored and parliament is not made sovereign, can our country go on?" he asked.

"We must make a decision to implement this clear-cut policy I have outlined and move forward."

Elaborating on agenda, Sharif said the PML-N wanted the "supremacy of the law and the constitution". It also wanted the reinstatement of the judges deposed during last year's emergency and the independence of the judiciary.

At the same time, the PML-N wants the "end of military intervention in politics and end of the interference of generals and the military".
