An Israeli military spokeswoman said she had no immediate information on the air strike. An official in Hamas's armed wing said three members of a mortar crew were killed and two others wounded.
Egypt has been trying to broker a truce to end violence on the Israel-Gaza border. Israel's cabinet, at its weekly meeting on Tuesday, was expected to discuss ceasefire prospects and possible broader military action should Egypt's efforts fail.
