Pakistan's former military ruler Pervez Musharraf may be in the final stages of deciding on his plan to settle down in the UK, with the retired general set to buy a flat in London's posh locality, a news report said on Monday.
The former Pakistan president, who is on a global lecture series, left London for Prague yesterday where he is scheduled to address experts at a defence think tank on May 27, the Dawn online said.
Musharraf arrived in London, where he is staying at the Richmond house of his old friend Brigadier Niaz, early last month after travelling to China and Saudi Arabia. He is expected to go to the US for a month-long lecture tour in September, the online said in a report from London.
The Pakistani websit, quoting some close friends of Musharraf in London, reported that he was looking around to buy a flat in central London, preferably around Edgware Road area. Others said that the former military ruler was looking for a villa in Chelsea.
According to the report, however, some people claiming to be well informed about Musharraf's activities in London, said that he has already bought a flat in the Edgeware Road neighbourhood where Pakistan's Interior Minister Rehman Malik also has a flat. Former British prime minister Tony Blair lives in the same neighbourhood, it said.
