The Nepal government on Thursday allegedly raided the houses of Tibetan refugees and arrested three senior leaders.
Drakpa Tenzin, president of the Kathmandu-based Regional Tibetan Youth Congress told HT on Thursday afternoon that three senior Tibetan leaders were arrested by Nepal Police.
The three arrested Tibetan leaders included Kelsang Chung, director of the Tibetan Reception Center, Ngawang Sangmo and Tashi Dolma, president and vice-president of the Regional Tibetan Women's Association respectively.
Tenzin alleged police personnel raided the houses of the Tibetan leaders and arrested them. However, neither Nepal Police nor the Ministry of Home Affairs made any statement on the arrests.
A Nepal Police team had also raided the house of the Representative of the Dalai Lama in Nepal Trinley Gyatso, but he was not at home.
It is believed that the Nepal government has been under tremendous pressure from the Embassy of China in Kathmandu and has initiated steps to arrests the senior Tibetan leaders.
