A car number plate with number 1 has made an entry into the Guinness Book of World Records as the "most expensive number plate", as it was auctioned for $14.2 million.
A car number plate with number 1 was auctioned for AED 52.2 million ($14.2 million) at an auction in Abu Dhabi , making an entry into the Guinness Book of World Records as the "most expensive number plate", WAM news agency reported on Sunday.
The plate was sold to Emirates businessman, Saeed Abdul Ghafar Khouri, at the auction conducted by the United Arab Emirates Road Transport Authority.

The previous highest bid for a car number plate was held by his countryman Talal Khouri for a plate with number 5 for $7 million.
The proceeds from the sale of these special car number plates would be used to build a hospital for treatment of road accident victims.
