Dhamala was produced before the Chief District Officer on Wednesday morning, and has been remanded to police custody for 14 days. His arrest was based on confessions of three cadres of Ranvir Sena, police claimed.

Interestingly, all the Ranvir Sena cadres have been operating in Kathmandu, and have been claiming to be journalists. They have been identified as Subhak Mahato, Manoj Mahato and Birendra Kumar Mehta.

Police presented evidences of Dhamala's links with the insurgent outfit at a press conference on Wednesday afternoon and described Dhamala's arrest as a major success in busting the network of the Hindu-terrorist outfit.

"We are interrogating the arrested terrorists and will soon present them before the media," the police officials said. Police also presented the intercepted telephonic conversation of Dhamala and the Ranvir Sena cadres.

The Ranvir Sena cadres confessed that Dhamala has been assisting them in their extortion drive, especially in negotiating with business establishments.

Dhamala is very active politically, and is reportedly very close to a lot of ministers and even diplomats.

Speaking to journalists at the court premises, Dhamala denied any link with the understand outfit, and said he was being harassed by government.
