Student forced to drink petrol, set ablaze in UK

Three people have been arrested in connection with the murder of an engineering student in the UK by allegedly setting him on fire after forcing him to drink petrol.

Three people have been arrested in connection with the murder of an engineering student in Norfolk in the UK by allegedly setting him on fire after tying him to a tree and forcing him to drink petrol.

Post-mortem reports revealed that 17-year-old Simon Everitt of Great Yarmouth, Norfolk, died as a result of inhaling combustible fluid, police said on Saturday and added that three persons have been arrested in this connection.

Simon vanished from Great Yarmouth on June 7. Detectives started their enquiry and found Simon's remains in a ditch near Mautby, Norfolk, three weeks later.

24-year-old Jimi Lee Stewart and 40-year-old Maria Chandler, both of Great Yarmouth along with Johnathan Clarke (19) of Telford Shrops are due to appear before the Norwich Crown court on July 14.

Simon's father, 44-year-old Vince, said his son was studying engineering and had a "heart of gold". The boy was born in Banbury, Oxon and grew up in Bishop Auckland, Co Durham. They moved to Great Yarmouth four years ago.
