A train with 76 people on board was knocked off its tracks early today after hitting a large truck at a highway crossing in Michigan, but there were no serious injuries, Amtrak said.

Local media captured dramatic images of the engine car knocked on its side and pointing backwards, while a passenger car was sprawled in the other direction on a grassy bank.

The train was travelling to Chicago with 71 passengers and five crew members and consisted of two locomotives and six railcars, Amtrak said in a statement.
Service was suspected across central Michigan and alternative transportation was being arranged.
